Know of anyone who has/had any form of blood cancer?

Hello everyone,

Well tommorrow I run my first half marathon. It's 13.1 miles of curves and hills. I admit, I've missed a couple of Saturday trainings due to my schedule and oversleeping twice (oops!). But I'm still ready for tommorrow.

The Raleigh City of Oaks marathon is sponsored by Sony Ericsson and Rex Healthcare. The best part of the marathon is the fundraising prior to the big event. Each participant was asked to raise at least $1500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This society has been raising money to help patients and their families during the most difficult times in their lives.

Tonight, the Pasta Party was held at the brand new downtown Marriot. While eating, we heard from two survivors of Leukemia and Lymphoma. This first young lady was only 16yrs old. She was diagnosed with Leukemia 2yrs ago. Thankfully, her treatments were only 6 weeks long. But out of the 16 youth patients on her floor at Duke Hospital, only 4 are still alive. She is the reason why I am running. The second lady mentioned a t-shirt worn during a recent marathon, "If you think this hurts - try Chemo!"

So, I might not be in the best shape to run a full half-marathon. Therefore, I'm going to do intervals of walking and running. BUT I will make it cross the finish line.

The most important part of this blog is to ask everyone to email me if you know of anyone who has suffered and survived any form of blood cancer. I want to run in memoriam and in honor of anyone who has experienced cancer.

Take note of the picture of my hat. I prefer to write the names on my hat since the t-shirts they gave us were 2sizes smaller than regular sizes....mmmm.....enough said...lol! I'm going to wear my regular shirt tomorrow:) Be sure to send your names to me as soon as you can. The race is in the morning and I will check my emails at about 5:30am. Sorry for the late request, but I just thought of the idea to make this request via my blog.

Love you all:)
